MEN EXPERIENCE A RANGE OF CANCER INEQUALITIES:

  • Men are 60% more likely to get cancers that affect both sexes
  • Men are 70% more likely to die of those cancers
  • Men have a lower five year survival rate for most cancers
  • Boys are not vaccinated against the cancer causing HPV virus (girls are
  • Men are considerably less likely to be routinely screened for cancer
  • Men are more likely to get a late diagnosis for cancer
  • Less money is invested in researching into male cancers
  • Men are four times more likely to die of work-related cancers
  • Men with cancer report a worse patient experience than women

Put simply, we put less time, energy and money into beating male cancer than female cancer and it is not surprising, therefore, that men are more likely to get cancer and less likely to survive it.
